Eco-Share Conference

Date:

9th of June 2023

Venue:

Česká zemědělská univerzita Praha Suchdol, Aula
Aula of Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Kamýcká 1276, 165 00 Praha-Suchdol, Czech Republic

Welcome to EcoShare, the premier conference dedicated to exploring the ecobenefits of trees growing in urban conditions. As our cities become more densely populated, it's increasingly important to examine how we can create sustainable and healthy environments for all residents. Trees are an essential component of this equation, providing a wide range of benefits beyond their aesthetic value. From mitigating the effects of climate change to improving air and water quality, trees can have a significant positive impact on our urban landscapes.

At EcoShare, we'll bring together experts from across the fields of urban planning, ecology, and forestry to share insights and best practices for promoting tree growth and maximizing their benefits. Through a series of engaging presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities, attendees will gain valuable knowledge and tools for creating more livable, sustainable communities. Join us at EcoShare and be part of the movement towards a greener, healthier future for our cities.

Program:

EcoShare Conference will take place on Friday, June 9th, at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The conference will focus on the important role of trees in environmental sustainability, and will feature three blocks of programs.
The first block will explore the impact of trees on microclimates. Presentations will cover the cooling functions of trees, including their role in mitigating urban heat islands. Attendees will also learn about how trees absorb dust components and mitigate noise pollution, making them a valuable asset in urban environments.
The second block will examine the relationship between trees and biodiversity. Experts will discuss the creation of tree habitats and the veteranization of trees, as well as the care of veteran and ancient trees. Attendees will also learn about the support of xylophagous organisms, which play a critical role in forest ecosystems.
In the final block, attendees will explore the carbon storage capabilities of non-forest trees. Presentations will focus on the use of trees as a carbon offset and the replacement of mature trees by new plantings. These topics are essential to understanding the role of trees in mitigating climate change.
Before the conference, on June 7th and 8th, there will be a professional excursion to thematically interesting areas in Bohemia. The excursion will focus on areas with significant trees, including veteranization projects and the care of veteran trees. Attendees will also learn about successful projects in blue-green infrastructure creation, providing valuable insight into sustainable urban development.
